This special interest group was formed to promote nursing research by educating and mentoring nurses interested in performing research. Tar Hell Nurse is the official publication of the NCNA.
This journal is published quarterly. The most recent articles published from the Nursing Research Program include "Understanding Research," and future publications will include two articles on research methods. The
primary purpose of the journal appears to be to keep NC nurses informed about the workplace, pending legislation, educational opportunities and practice updates. However, the site does give the impression
that research is becoming more of a focus, as research participation by its nursing readers is encouraged. For example, the site mentions an NCNA program that partners research mentors with
