    are nuts-and-bolts robots in existence that do everything from guard establishments to vacuum the floor, there are smaller bots, called "intelligent agents" that are beginning to help with everyday tasks  in the workplace. Many of us are not aware of these agents -- they work quietly, yet efficiently in the background in order to help us better get our  jobs done. The purpose of This paper is to examine intelligent agents and how they handle telecommunications management. We will first  describe intelligent agents and their roles within telecommunications. For example, such bots are proving extremely helpful in managing everything from phone calls, to e-mail -- and even workflow. Intelligent agents  can be considered similar to secretaries -- they do their jobs to help companies. This paper will also examine intelligent agent trends.  As with anything, improvements can be made to technology and developers are hard at work to both make intelligent agents more effective and to help them better cooperate with  one another. As intelligent agents are here to stay, it is effective for us to know what they are and how they  can help us in our organization. Definition Intelligent agents, in their most basic forms, are programs developed to help users accomplish certain  tasks (Ulfelder, 2000). The agents are written in been a variety of programming languages and feature triggers that prompts them to do their jobs without human intervention (Ulfelder, 2000).  These agents, also known as "smart bots," are made of software rather than metal (Schenker, 1999).
