Problem Statement In this paper, the writer has been asked to develop a research proposal to examine the relationship between patient satisfaction
and physician performance in outpatient clinics. During the late 19th century and into the early 20th century, the relationship between patient and
physician was fairly close. More often than not, the "family doctor" was the guy who delivered a familys babies, tended to ills of both children and adults, and helped the
family cope with grieving and sorrow when a dear relative passed away. However, as technology continued advancing medicine, the practice of medicine
itself became more institutionalized. House calls were no longer made; in fact, people had to visit physicians in cold, sterile offices. Furthermore, the advent of specialties during the mid-20th century
further sectioned the human body, making it even more difficult to develop and maintain a close physician-patient relationship. Yet in this day
and age, the byword in medicine involves cost savings - and the better a physician knows his/her patient, the more likely costs can be saved on needless tests or incorrect
