Some say that a house is charged with the emotions of  those who live there and this could even be said of hotels, such as Cranes Blue Hotel. In his hotel, Any room can present a tragic front; any room can  be comic. This little den was now hideous as a torture chamber"(Crane, 1635). Crane goes on to make the statement that Every sin is the result of a collaboration"(Crane, 1645).  If one were to take this one statement about sin and collaboration, it could be that Crane is making a statement, not only about the situation at the Blue  Hotel, but about original sin, being a collaboration between Adam and Eve, Snake and Apple. Of course, the men that find themselves thrown together to winter a terrible storm have  ideas and thoughts far from the Biblical in nature. The owner of the Blue Hotel (whose real name is the Palace Hotel) welcomes three strangers to his inn: a Swede,  a cowboy and an Easterner. It is apparent from the beginning, via a card game, that the Swede is given to paranoid tendencies. He even goes so far as to  accuse the owners son, Johnnie, of trying to kill him. Threatening to leave the hotel, the owner (Scully), convinces him that to go out into the wild Nebraska snowstorm would  be madness, and the Swede acquiesces. However, his paranoia doesnt cease and eventually he accuses Johnnie of cheating at cards. In true Old West style the men go outside  to settle the fight in the middle of a blinding snowstorm. The Swede manages to win the fight and goes to a nearby saloon to celebrate his dubious victory. While
