Banks generally have  a negative equity with their customers, who frequently see their bank either as the lesser of the several evils available to them or as no worse than any other.  Though the face of banking has changed in recent years, the business of it has not. The purpose here is to investigate the  proliferation of online banking and how it can be used to make the banking industry more profitable while increasing the competitive advantage of individual participants in the industry. Global Considerations  Globalization is progressing at a rate that few could envision only a few years ago. Businesses transfer funds between sites in several  countries, and business travelers are often assigned to foreign sites for long periods of time. Online banking can provide a convenience for many different types of people, but these  expatriates have particular interest in maintaining electronic contact with their funds. Aggregation Activities In the US, it has been typical that a family  or individual would have one or more bank accounts, but have them all at a single bank. It has been unusual for individuals to use different banks for different  accounts. That typical scenario has been changing in recent years, however, so that US households now "use an average of 3.6 institutions for deposits, loans and investments. About  66% of current online users of financial services reportedly want a consolidated view of all their accounts online-and according to the Gartner Group, more than 30% are willing to pay
