    on the talk show circuit. As soon as an individual becomes known for some reason, and is willing to do interviews, they can expand their notoriety through the use of  the talk or variety show. Many who had only scant attention-- from Monica Lewinsky to Richard Hatch, the gay guy from the original Survivor series--become rather well known in a  short period of time. Of course, the notoriety is not lasting and Warhols idea that everyone will have their fifteen minutes of fame comes to mind. Still, the variety show  or talk show circuit can mean incredible book sales for authors, and the launching of new careers. Accomplishing this form of marketing scheme also provides opportunity for those who were  never really in the limelight to begin with. That said, it is not always easy to seize such an opportunity. If someone is able to secure a spot on a  show, that can also mean increased sales in terms of CDs or movie tickets when the already famous take to the air waves. The recent Osbournes phenomenon was equated with  a week or two of Sharon and Ozzy everywhere, and the release of a new single from daughter Kelly. Yet, this occurred after the season for the new MTV hit  had ended. Indeed, these appearances seemed to spark sales of Ozzys new CD and secured the family a tight position on next falls television lineup. Also, with such newfound popularity,  tickets to Ozzfest were hard to come by for the summer 2002 tour. In any event, there are many examples of how television talk can promote a variety of things,  and publicists and agents know this.
