be seen in the way that as a brand is intangible, any argument will be subjective. If we take two well known brands, that of Nike, and also of Manchester  United Football club. Brands are important in terms of a companies financial performance. The use of branding is to increase the market share of a company by increasing the  recognition and the association with the positive aspects of the company and encourage the way in which loyalty is developed., From this perspective alone we may argue that the branding  itself of Manchester United may not need to be as great as Nike simply due to the way in which, as a football team, the loyalty is to the team  rather than the brand.
