    Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America" which has been the recipient of much attention. Basically, this book asserts that it is next to impossible to live on  the minimum wages which many big companies pay for employees. In order to write this book, Ehrenreich herself went to Wal Mart and various other locations across the country  for a period of three months and worked in many of these minimum wage jobs to see if she could survive. While the exploration and resulting analysis is indeed  interesting and poignant, one must question her ethics in terms of gathering her evidence. There are clearly arguments on both sides of this issue. The Ethical Obligations  of Barbara Ehrenreich In Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting by in America, Ehrenreich (2001) was inspired by some of the arguments  which surround welfare reform. These arguments often claim that people shouldnt be on welfare - instead they should go out and find some kind of job to support themselves  (Ehrenreich, 2001). So, this is exactly what Ehrenreich (2001) did. Ehrenreich (2001) attempted to find employment and took whatever  anyone would offer her. She claimed to be an inexperienced homemaker returning to the workforce (Clayton, 2002). What ensues is her experiences in such positions which are often  sad, frustrating, funny and insightful. Some of the different positions which she held included a maid, waitress, cleaning woman, Wal-Mart clerk and others. Furthermore, she traveled to a  variety of states in order to gain an overall analysis of the situation. Ehrenreich (2001) made many discoveries, among them
