    is especially true in Africa where this disease runs rampant and the healthcare system is unable to deal effectively with this disease. The world must stop and evaluate this  situation as it becomes more dyer on a daily basis. While AIDS is a clear threat in the United States  as well, there are at least effective treatments and medical protocol which often prolongs the life and health of patients. It is important therefore to understand the problem of  AIDS as it exists in Africa in order to reveal possible solutions to this problem. AIDS - A Healthcare Problem for Africa  AIDS has devastated Africa. People are dying from the disease in record numbers. Imagine trying to deal with more than 10 million orphans - all due to their  parents dying from AIDS (Scarce Money, Few Drugs, Little Hope, 2002). The sad truth is that Africa is not able to  effectively deal with this tragic health crisis. Doctors from that country report sending children home from the hospital to die because there is nothing they are able to do  for them and the hospital space is needed for others (Scarce Money, Few Drugs, Little Hope, 2002). This seems horrific  to those of us who live in the industrialized world where AIDS is often effectively controlled and most often closely monitored. Patients in the U.S. are typically given a  "cocktail" which is comprised of 15 to 20 anti-retroviral drugs (Scarce Money, Few Drugs, Little Hope, 2002). But, the cost of these "cocktails" is expensive - often costing about
